There are many rich African alternatives to industrial and chemical driven agriculture.
Successful agroecological approaches include organic agriculture, sustainable agriculture, agro-forestry, pastoralism, integrated pest management, farmer-led plant breeding and sustainable watershed management.
Friends of the Earth Nigeria/ Environmental Rights Action trains and supports farmers to use these methods and protect native seeds and food production. Friends of the Earth Nigeria/ Environmental Rights Action also mobilises communities and associations and campaigns to resist corporate driven agriculture including against GMOs and the weak Biosafety Law.
