Friends of the Earth Argentina was founded 30 years ago. The organization campaigns in different parts of the country. Their main goal is to work for sustainable societies by changing the capitalist development model, which is responsible for the current social and ecological crises in the world, as well as causing exclusion and environmental degradation. By promoting the participation of different sectors of society and by working with other networks, FoE Argentina campaigns and protects mother Earth and human kind as a fundamental part of it.
The organization works in the defence of water, it campaigns for water to be recognised as a common good, to prevent its commodification and guarantee access to water for everyone, while preserving water sources. They believe that the activities that have negative impacts on the environment need to be revised, as well as the role of corporations who hold most responsibility for environmental degradation and water and nature privatization. They also protect wetlands, glaciers and water streams.
The organization campaigns for the preservation of forests and biodiversity, they promote sovereignty, responsibility and transparency by organising joint actions with socio-environmental organisations and people affected by environmental problems. FoE Argentina works against forest and soy monoculture plantations, which are damaging the country’s land. They also defend native forests.
The organisation works for food sovereignty and defends native seeds against the advance of agribusiness in the country and they support the struggle of the peasant movement and promote a change of paradigm.
